Jayanga and Vishva

For Jayanga and Vishva, life has always been a grand adventure defined by calculated risks and a shared vision. From meeting as software engineering students in Sri Lanka to traveling through 14 countries in a span of two years’, the couple eventually traded their nomadic lifestyle for a permanent foundation in Clyde North. After a decade of marriage and a stint living in the Netherlands, they have officially called Orana home for the past year.

A Global Search for Stability

The path to Orana was a cross-continental collaboration. While Vishva was still finishing work in the Netherlands, Jayanga took on the “solo challenge” of scouting land across Melbourne’s southeast.

Distance didn’t stop their due diligence. From opposite sides of the world, they analysed demographics, rental yields, and future infrastructure. They were particularly impressed by the transparency of the Orana team. Unlike other estates, they felt estate manager Gayan provided an authentic masterplan without “false promises,” which built the trust necessary to secure their land in July 2023.

Building a Custom Dream

Both coming from families with backgrounds in construction, the couple knew they wanted to build from scratch rather than buy established. While the process involved navigating time zones and Jayanga’s meticulous decision-making style, they enjoyed the journey. They visited the site frequently during the build to ensure every detail of their home matched their preferences.

“We’ve learned that creating stability doesn’t mean staying still,” says Jayanga. “It means being brave enough to pursue dreams while being wise enough to prepare properly”.

Life in Harmony

By day, Jayanga and Vishva are software consultants solving complex technical problems. By evening, their home transforms into a hub of creativity and connection. Vishva is a talented singer and cricket lover, while Jayanga enjoys wildlife photography and music. Their nights often involve karaoke with friends and family.

For them, a good community is one where neighbours wave hello, share tools, and look out for one another. They have already established a close bond with their “next-door-but-one” neighbours, whom they met while their homes were still under construction.

Looking Ahead

While they are currently focused on strengthening community roots and hosting game nights, the couple’s entrepreneurial spirit remains active. They view their current home as the first step in a growing property portfolio, with plans to eventually build another home—perhaps one with a waterfront view reminiscent of Sri Lanka.

“Take those calculated risks, trust your instincts, and most importantly, enjoy every moment,” Vishva advises. For this couple, Orana isn’t just a place to live; it’s the base for their next great chapter.
