We are very aware of the mobile coverage issue which affects the Clyde and Clyde North locality generally.
Orana is no different to neighbouring estates. The services and infrastructure constructed at Orana are those required by the planning process and approvals for the estate. Land developers are responsible for the roll-out of telecommunications infrastructure (fibre) within the housing estate. Within Orana, Balcon Group has installed and funded the best available fibre-to-the-home telecommunications infrastructure provided by NBN Co.
Unfortunately, Telstra and other telecommunications providers are not an active participant in the planning and approvals process. Ultimately, telecommunications providers determine where they locate their mobile phone infrastructure (such as towers), and it is not something that we can impose on them.
This issue is outside the control of land developers such as Balcon Group, yet the development team are continuing to advocate to all levels of government on behalf of our community to assist this matter.
