At Orana, we believe that building a community goes beyond the homes we deliver — it’s about the people who call this part of Melbourne home, and the broader community we’re all a part of.
On 24 March 2026, we were honoured to witness Homes for Homes present a $100,000 grant to the Victorian Homeless Fund — made possible through Balcon Group. The cheque handover took place right here at the Orana Sales Office, bringing this milestone moment close to home.
The $100,000 will fund the construction of a family home in Doveton, with a specific focus on supporting women and children escaping family and domestic violence. Once complete, the Women’s Property Initiative will manage the property on a long-term basis at an affordable rate, providing residents not only with a safe place to live, but access to specialist support services to help them rebuild their lives.
This contribution is part of Homes for Homes’ eighth grant round — a dedicated City of Casey round — and reflects a growing need. Every night, 122,494 people experience homelessness across Australia, and 76.2% of City of Casey residents have identified housing affordability and homelessness as a local concern.
For Balcon Group, this grant brings the total contributed to community housing in the City of Casey to $200,000 — the first $100,000 was granted to Kids Under Cover in June 2023.
As Jason Shaw, Development Manager at Balcon Group, put it: “The industry has an obligation to be part of the solution. Partnering with Homes for Homes means funds go towards delivering real, lasting outcomes where they matter most.”
At Orana, we’re proud to be part of a development that puts people first — not just the people who choose to live here, but the broader community we’re building alongside. We look forward to continuing to support initiatives that create real, lasting change in the City of Casey.
