A New Chapter for Families: Maternal Health Service opens at Orana Community Place
We are thrilled to announce that the doors are officially open at the Maternal Health Service, located right here at Orana Community Place!
On Tuesday 3 February, City of Casey Mayor Cr Stefan Koomen and City of Casey Deputy Mayor Cr Michelle Crowther joined General Manager of Balcon, Jason Shaw, and Community Manager, Charlotte Beasley to celebrate the opening. Maternal and Child Health Nurse Kimberley, who will operate from the new consult room on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and local resident Shannon and son Bobbie, were also in attendance.
Supporting our growing community means ensuring that local families have access to the care they need, close to home. Whether you are navigating the first few weeks of parenthood or managing the toddler years, this new service is designed to be a welcoming hub for health, advice, and peace of mind.
A Familiar Face You Know and Trust
We know that when it comes to your family’s health, a little familiarity goes a long way. That’s why we are delighted to share that the service will be led by Nurse Kim.
As a long-standing and beloved figure among Casey families, Nurse Kim brings years of expertise and a gentle, supportive approach to every consultation. Many of you may already know her from her work in the region, and we couldn’t be happier to have her “manning the station” at Orana.
What the Service Offers
The Maternal Health Service is here to support you through the beautiful (and sometimes overwhelming) journey of early parenthood. Nurse Kim is available to assist with:
“Our goal is to make Orana Community Place a true ‘home base’ for our residents. Bringing Nurse Kim on board to provide expert maternal care is a huge win for the Casey community.”
About Orana Community Place
Orana Community Place is an outstanding example of how a developer and Council can work together to find innovative solutions to provide much-needed social infrastructure in new communities.
“Balcon identified the delay in permanent community infrastructure as a key challenge in the establishment of a strong and connected community at Orana. Orana Community Place is a novel way of providing a temporary facility that still meets the essential needs of community, as well as providing a focal point where people can meet, have a coffee at Humble Merchant and enjoy the beautiful Orana Park.
“Adding Maternal and Child Health to the offering at Orana Community Place effectively makes it a full-service community facility – all provided on three blocks of land. Whilst Balcon remains focussed on working with Council to deliver larger permanent facilities at Orana as soon as possible, Orana Community Place is proving to be a very successful temporary solution. Balcon hopes that Orana Community Place provides some inspiration and can be a template for other new communities around Australia.” Jason Shaw, General Manager Balcon Group
