Balcon Group was established in Melbourne’s South-East and is a family-owned business. Family and connectedness are what drives the company to deliver beautiful estates that are healthy, happy and sustainable. The company’s estate Orana is a stunning, innovative estate that is connected to the environment. The Orana Park was constructed very early on in the development phase. This is a testament to Balcon’s dedication to green spaces and community togetherness. Orana Park has many stunning features encouraging a harmonious and vibrant community space for Orana residents.

The Orana Park has been designed to be accessible for everyone. It boasts impressive features that have been designed by the best in the industry. The playground is designed by Fitzgerald Frisby Landscape Architecture, and built by LD Total. Perhaps the first feature you will notice is the ‘Skywalk’ towering above the trees. It is the first of its kind to be installed in Melbourne’s South East. The slide and two cubbies will entertain the adventurous soul, whether they be child or adult. It is accessible via a web-style net. It will encourage hand-eye coordination and build muscle strength and bone density while putting big smiles on children’s faces. As well as the Skywalk, there is a wheelchair-accessible carousel that can accommodate multiple children, a triple swing unit with a basket swing, trampolines and spring rockers for children to play on.

Play equipment is not the only amazing feature of Orana Park. There are multiple sculptures in the park that are wondrous and connect our residents to the environment. The water sculpture called ‘The Watering Spirit’ by Geoffrey Ricardo was designed to be an interactive sculpture that provides a flow of water for the bird life to bathe in and drink.

Speaking of bird life, there are owl timber sculptures at Orana Park too that have been carved by Shlomit Moria, a very talented Victorian chainsaw artist, that overlook the park. Shlomit has also carved wombats that have captured the hearts of many new Orana residents with their detailed and engaging features. These wombats in particular are something Balcon is proud of having because of the way they foster a love for and connect people to the native environment.

Environment plays a huge role at Orana. The estate is enacting the Urban Forest Strategy to increase tree canopy cover and green space in our urban environments. The green spaces at Orana Park are just one section of the plan but has a huge impact on our health and wellbeing. There is a large green space at Orana Park that is perfect for the family to run around and be active. There is also a fitness circuit with five stations for the community to use to be fit and healthy. It’s the ideal space to explore and connect with the family. There are other features for all ages to explore and discover, too such as a sand and water table for young ones to discover and have a rich sensory experience, as well as timber cubbies for exploration. For older children, there is a safe place to skate or ride their bikes and scooters on a path with bumps and berms and a cricket wall with permanent wickets.

Orana Park also includes toilets, shelters, free picnic and barbecue areas, drinking fountain, reclining seating and walking path. Orana Park really has something for everyone to enjoy and will be a treasured local community space that is harmonious and vibrant.
